Did Not Show Up.

My Taco Man DID NOT SHOW UP to serve scheduled food for my son's Bar Mitzvah this past Saturday. This is not a joke. (Invoice Reference #: 982****). They were scheduled (we paid a deposit for a $1000 event for 70 people and relied on Yelp reviews to choose them). They were supposed to begin setup at 3.30 pm, and serve at 4.30 pm. At 15 minutes before 4 pm, I began calling their phone numbers. A lot. They had no-one in the office or on call or answering phones on a Saturday that they had catering scheduled. They did not call and leave messages on either of the cell numbers that we gave them. Finally, their guy showed up, not at 3.30, or 4, or 4.30, or at 5. But at 5.06 pm! Our guests were leaving. Luckily, we'd recovered somewhat by ordering pizza. But this was a major disaster for our son's Bar Mitzvah. And, yes, they did give us our deposit back on the Monday. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!

My Taco Man is the WORST!

Company stated setup time was 5:45pm for a 6:30pm start. One incredible inept guy shows up at 6:20pm (no apology for being late) to set up a corporate buffet for 130 people. Food piled into the back of an old pick up truck. It took this guy 1 1/2 hours to set up, so our function started at 8:00pm instead of 6:30pm. Set up guy's attitude was ***. He stood there cutting limes for about 30 minutes. Why wasn't this done in advance? He moved in slow motion like he just didn't give a ***. Food was not very good. Tilapia looked like ground up cat food instead of like the fish fillets they show on their webpage. Portions were incredibly small. Rice was like the cheap frozen stuff you find at Costco. Chicken was full of grizzle. Food is NOTHING like it looks on their site. All of it was cheap and nasty. Beans were more like soupy mess. We had to help him setup as he worked so slowly. We had to microwave all of the soft tacos, unwrap food, out service ware out, etc. ourselves while we were suppose to be greeting corporate guests. They promised ice (which is even stated on their website), which they did not bring. 200 warm drinks. I had to force the driver to go out and get ice. We paid $1.25 per can of soda with no ice. If I had known that I would have bought them myself much cheaper. Delivery guy pretty much just tossed the food on the banquet tables making an incredible mess. Garbage and food all over the floor after he finished setting up. Guests standing there watching all of this happen while we were trying to clean up after him. The provided forks and plates, NOTHING else. Their website says that they provide utensils, napkins and plates. No napkins, no knives, we had to scramble to provide our own. Paid extra to add flour tortillas, never got them. Paid extra to get sour cream; never got it. Tacos were suppose to come with grilled onions, grilled jalapenos and radishes; none of which we got. We refused payment after we couldn't get a discount out of the owner and made the driver leave. Our security guard had to keep him out as he tried to get back in the building to take the food back! The owner even threatened to call the police on us! What a joke!! I can't say enough bad things about this company. Am telling everyone I know to stay away. Filing complaints with Angie's List and BBB.

Health Codes not Followed - Rank food

We were having a wedding reception or 75 people. Taco Man staff arrived saying they had driven 2 hours to arrive. Food was in plastic bins - not ice chests. All ice was melted and luke warm in temperature. The food was in the back of an open bed pick-up, in 85 degree heat. On the inside of the lid was disgusting old food - it looked like maggots were nearly ready to hatch. The beans and rice had been cooked at the central kitchen and sent out without regfrigeration. It was wrapped in cellophane that had holes in it. Nothing was up to health codes. The amount of food as unbelievably small. 10 pounds of food - total for 75 people? Really? between the health issues and the small amount of food, I was completely disappointed. NEVER EVER USE MY TACO MAN!

Catering Company No-Showed for my wedding rehearsal dinner!!

Updated by user Sep 06, 2013

Pissed Consumer asked that I give an update to my problem...

We filed a complaint with the Business Consumer Alliance (BBB?) and several emails were sent to the company regarding our complaint.

There was no response and no attempt to make things right.

I'm truly amazed they're still in business. Again, if they had just apologized and treated us like customers, we wouldn't have a problem.

We hired My Taco Man Catering to provide dinner for our 75 guests and confirmed 3 days beforehand to make sure we were all on the same page (address, gate code, multiple phone numbers, etc). On the day of service the company never showed up. What was supposed to be a relaxing and fun evening with our out of town guests turned into a mad dash to the local grocery store to get food for everyone. The day after we received an email telling us that their driver had been there, tried to call us, and we were expected to pay them before "further action" was taken. I can assure you that there were no phone calls from anyone (I have the phone logs to prove it). This was the morning of our wedding. We then received multiple phone calls from them demanding payment. A few days later my husband & I posted negative reviews on multiple review websites then received another email from the company asking to talk. They told us that their driver's phone died and he tried calling from a gas station. Incorrect. Again, we have all phone logs. They had the address, why their driver didn't show up still alludes me. After looking into their company, it turns out they have a habit of setting up contracts and then never showing up for the event (look at filtered reviews from that company that rhymes with help). If they had just apologized and owned up to making a mistake, I never would have posted any negative reviews. But the fact that they lied to us and demanded payment just really baffles me.
